The band was founded in 2009, by the brothers Alves; Gabriel on vocals and guitar and Lucas on drums, followed by their friend, Diego Morais on bass. They began rehearsing and playing covers in concerts located in Anapolis— your home-town located in the Brazilian state of Goias. In few months, they realized that to achieve their dreams, playing cover songs would not be enough. So they began writing their own songs together, which helped them form their musical identities and style.
With their own music, they began to be recognized by the metal scene of their city. This helped the band keep playing in most of the nearby rock concerts. It didn’t take long for opportunities to flow in from other cities in the state. They then began playing in various festivals.
In 2010, one day before the band had to perform at Goiaba Rock Festival in Inhumas, Goias, Diego Morais decided to leave the band. Despite being an amazing trio, Lucas and Gabriel chose to continue with the concert since it was a great opportunity for the band. They took the stage with all of the energy they had, with the participation of João Lobo—a native from the hosting town—on bass. After the concert, he was invited to join the band, however it wasn’t possible for distance matters.
Behind the Horror went through a phase where they had no fixed bassist. Leonardo Enio, from their hometown, joined the band for a while. They did more concerts and compositions. However, when they decided to record some songs, Enio also left the band. Gabriel and Lucas tried to stay focused, which proved difficult without the much-needed trio. When they couldn’t find a bassist, they decided to play in other bands. This left their original band, Behind the Horror, stalled.
Nevertheless, they never stopped thinking about their dreams and in 2013, the band returned with its original members. They are now producing their debut album. The Horror is coming...
